Academic Voice Coordinator Job at University of Bristol Students’ Union – Bristol

Empowering and supporting students to shape their academic experience – could you be one of our new Academic Voice Coordinators?

We’re looking for two people with the passion to support students to shape and get the most out of their university experience. In partnership with Bristol University, Bristol SU supports an academic representation system of over 800 student representatives. Academic representation and student voice is the bedrock of why Bristol Students’ Union exists and we’re really proud of what we do for students, empowering them to shape and enhance their academic experience.

We’re hoping to find two enthusiastic people, one to focus on academic representation for undergraduate students and the other to focus on postgraduates.

If you’re successful, you’ll provide direct support to student representatives and relevant university staff in order to maximise the effectiveness and impact of Bristol SU’s student academic representation. You will support student-led work on educational issues affecting undergraduate, postgraduate taught and postgraduate research students such as ensuring a blended learning/research environment that meets their needs, and accessing adequate support and supervision to enable better mental health and wellbeing.

You don’t have to have worked in higher education or in a students’ union before. But we are looking for someone who is a natural problem-solver with excellent administration skills to help them adapt to a fast-paced environment. You’ll be passionate about empowering others and giving them the tools to shape their own experiences. You’ll be confident at communicating clearly with varying audiences and using different channels to share information. You’ll also be experienced when it comes to managing multiple or complex projects involving a range of stakeholders.

Our team isn’t as representative of our student body as we’d like it to be so we’re particularly keen to hear from you if you’re black, disabled, transgender, working class or have any other marginalised experience. It’s important to us that we diversify our team and that students see themselves represented here.

If you want to know more about our team or our approach to inclusion, or you’re wondering whether you’d be right for this role, please get in touch, see email address on jobs page of our website.
