ASSISTANT COORDINATOR Job at New Directions for Children, Adults & Families – Winnipeg, MB

New Directions for Children, Youth, Adults and Families is a non-profit, community-based organization that provides a diverse range of supports to individuals in a variety of settings. We deliver individualized services that foster the hopes and dreams of people and their communities.

Adult Home Share (AHS) is one of the many services areas within New Directions, providing support to over 200 people in 160 home share locations in Winnipeg and surrounding area. AHS strives to promote a sense of belonging and to provide opportunities for individuals to have meaningful lives, achieved by providing person-centered supports.

We are currently seeking a full-time Assistant Coordinator to join and support our team.

Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

  • Collect, audit and monitor cash and bank transaction sheets for all participants who are not independent financially. Follow up and report any discrepancies to the Coordinator.
  • Coordinate and facilitate Financial Care Plans and follow up with financial goal attainment as needed.
  • Complete License Pre-checks for all Home Share Provider homes prior to License Review.
  • Follow up with any conditional requirements as indicated from the annual review.
  • Have knowledge of Residential Care Licensing rules and regulations.
  • Attend internal and external systems meeting as required or requested by Case Managers, Coordinators and Managers.

The ideal candidate will possess qualifications that include:

  • A diploma in Disability & Community Support or other related education
  • 2 years’ experience supporting adults with disabilities, or equivalent education and experience
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft suite of products, including, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Office 365, and SharePoint,
  • Strong attention to detail,
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to take independent action, demonstrating initiative,
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with access to a reliable vehicle,

· Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.

· A demonstrated awareness and appreciation of diversity of culture and ability.

· Be able to adapt to variety of work requests

The successful candidate will be subject to Criminal Record, Child/Adult Abuse Registry, and Prior Contact checks; and must supply a current driver’s abstract.
