Why KACL?
Since 1960, the Kenora Association for Community Living (KACL) has promoted inclusion and social justice in our community. We are a not-for-profit, charitable organization made up of some of the most compassionate, caring, and hardworking people you’ll ever meet.

We are the third largest employer in Kenora, and our goal is to be the employer of choice by focusing on safety, courtesy, teamwork, and service excellence.

Our finance team provides accounting, payroll, and financial reporting infrastructure and services that allow for KACL’s support programs to thrive and for all KACL employees to focus on providing service excellence. The Assistant Financial Controller (AFC) is a work-share role in which you and your AFC partner will work together to ensure that the A/P, A/R, and payroll functions operate effectively and efficiently. Together, you will also provide support and backup to the Financial Controller with budgeting, reporting, forecasting, and other finance activities.

You Are:

  • Resilient: You thrive in an environment of heavy workload and competing deadlines.
  • Emotionally Intelligent: You are constantly aware of your own internal condition, and you possess the interpersonal skills to understand and respect the condition of others.
  • Process Driven: You are skilled at creating, following, and assessing processes.
  • Analytical: You love to investigate issues and develop solutions.
  • People Focused: You recognize that finance is about people, not just numbers. You nurture your relationships and act with kindness.

You Will:

  • Work collaboratively with your Assistant Financial Controller Partner.
  • Monitor and maintain KACL’s payroll system (MS Dynamics NAV).
  • Review payroll, A/P, and A/R entries prepared by finance team members.
  • Prepare remittances and reconciliations for source deductions, pension, and benefits.
  • Manage payroll year-end, including preparation of T4s.
  • Prepare payroll and general journal entries.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts.
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to the finance team members.
  • Assist the Financial Controller with the timely and accurate completion of reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and other finance activities.

You’ll Love:

  • Being part of a progressive organization that makes a real difference in our community.
  • A positive, productive, professional team.
  • Options for working remotely (see below).
  • Great medical, dental, vision, and disability coverage, and our pension plan.
  • Opportunities for personal and professional growth, and exploration of your gifts.
