Bar Manager Job at Ashton Gate Stadium – Bristol

Ashton Gate Stadium is a unique sports and entertainment business with the core aim of providing integral support services to ensure the sustainability of Stephen Lansdown’s sporting group of companies which includes Bristol Sport, Bristol City, Bristol Bears, Bristol Flyers Basketball and each of their respective community charities.


To ensure the smooth operation of the Bars across all Hospitality areas during Match Day and non-match day events. Ensuring all bar operatives are trained to deliver a high level guest experience and Health and safety Procedures at all times. Driving Beverage sales and converting to achieve Budgeted targets.


  • Manage bars to a high standard of service throughout all events within the stadium
  • Comply with the stadium hygiene controls at all times, ensuring a clean and safe working environment, Completing regular audits
  • Develop a team of highly trained Bar operatives to deliver consistency and a high-class guest experience throughout every event
  • To maintain and achieve GP within the beverage category identifying ways to drive sales and profit


  • Ensure high levels of Guest satisfaction
  • Lead large teams across multiple bars within Events and match days delivering consistent quality service
  • Adhering to all Ashton gate Processes and SOP’s
  • Managing EHO and health and safety standards across all bars
  • Manage the stock levels and support monthly stock taking
  • Mange the ordering, deliveries and storage of all drink relating stocks
  • Ensure quality of product is maintained throughout the stadium

Health & Safety

Responsible for ensuring all health and safety procedures are followed at all times, with relevant paperwork to support.

  • To ensure all employees complete their trained required to do their job
  • To conduct daily walk arounds ensuring the shop and stock room is maintained correctly as per Health and Safety guidance.
  • Report all incidents and accidents as required.
  • To report any hazards detected.
  • To complete and review the risk assessments for the department

Essential Skills

  • Previous experience of successfully managing large Beverage stocks
  • Experience leading teams and developing people
  • Organised and able to manage your time effectively
  • Knowledge of alcohol licencing law
  • Previous bar work in a supervisory position
  • Understanding of GP and how to drive profit performance
  • Ability to build relationships with external partners and suppliers

Essential Skills

  • Experience in stadium or similar multi-unit venue
  • Qualifications in Hospitality and/ or drinks category
