Mission Possible (MP) is a non-profit organization and social enterprise located in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. We support individuals challenged by homelessness, poverty, addiction, mental illness, and other barriers to employment to achieve a renewed sense of dignity and purpose through meaningful work. Through our employment readiness program, and our social enterprises, MP Maintenance & MP Neighbours, we equip our program participants with the skills, confidence, and support they need to rejoin the workforce and rebuild a self-sustainable livelihood for themselves.

Position Type: Permanent – Full time; 40 hours per week; Tuesday to Saturday

Reports to: Clean Streets Coordinator

Compensation

$22-24 per hour to start. Will be reviewed annually

Job Summary

By leading by example, the Clean Streets Supervisor will ensure women and non-binary people experiencing barriers to employment receive the hands-on training and tailored support they need to achieve their transition goals.

In addition, Clean Streets Supervisor will collaborate with the Employment Readiness team to support the development of the Women’s Track Program while providing quality street cleaning services to customers including City of Vancouver, BIA’s, and local businesses.

Working Conditions

This role is team-based. The Clean Streets Supervisor will be supervised by the Clean Streets Coordinator and will work alongside the MP Enterprise team and other departments. Most work will take place outside of MP’s office, either on a driving or walking route.

Requirements

Class 5 Driver’s License and a clean drivers’ abstract

Willing to complete a Background Check

Legally allowed to work in BC

Able to report to work at 7:30 am, Tuesday to Saturday

Qualifications

Great communication and conflict resolution skills

Work well independently and as a team member

Proficiency with computers for record keeping and emails

Completion of or a willingness to complete: OFA1 first aid, Mental Health First Aid, Overdose Prevention and Response, Trauma Informed Practice training

Experience in supervising teams, preferably with relevant experience working with women and non-binary people in the DTES

Knowledge of barriers impacting women and non-binary people in the DTES, including gender-based violence, mental health and substance use, unsafe living conditions, access to supportive resources

Duties

Clean Streets Team: Women’s Team

Models excellent work habits

Supervises and works alongside a small team to deliver safe, efficient, quality work

Communicate with customers as needed

De-escalate and resolve conflicts

Willing to perform other duties as assigned by the Coordinator.

Clean Streets Team: Co-ed’s Team

Work as a supervisor of a co-ed Clean Team as needed

MP Enterprise Team

Ensure all equipment and vehicles are being properly cared for and maintained and report service issues

Other duties as assigned by the Clean Streets Coordinator
