The opportunity:

A marketing copywriter creates written promotional material that engages key strategic audiences like students, staff, alumni and donors with the University of Manitoba’s brand. This includes the creation of content for marketing campaigns on both offline and online channels including posters, print ads, out of home, audio scripts, video scripts, speaking notes, web, social and email.

The copywriter is also well versed across many channels but is especially knowledgeable in digital marketing including being well-versed in SEO/SEM, user experience design and digital best practices. In addition to creating compelling content for these channels, a marketing copywriter is also able to interpret audience data and analytics to inform how to improve performance of the next campaign.

The qualifications and experience we’re looking for:

· Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent education/experience in Communications.

· Minimum three (3) years of copywriting (either in-house or agency) experience required.

· Experience working with not-for-profit organizations is required.

· Knowledge of digital processes, techniques and technologies is required.

· Experience working with web Content Management Systems (WordPress, Drupal, Magento, etc.)

· An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

· Exceptional editing skills required.

· Experience with general advancement writing is required.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills required.

· Outstanding attention to detail skills required.

· Proficiency with computers, spreadsheets, databases, and word processing required.

· Proficiency with software such as Adobe Creative Suite, online work management software, and web content management systems required.

· Demonstrated ability to act positively and efficiently under pressure required.

· Demonstrated ability to work well with multiple stakeholders required.

· Demonstrated ability to understand partner needs and goals and to translate those into clear content required.

· Demonstrated ability to multitask required.

· Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required
