Your Opportunity

The Mental Health Clinician will provide support to the Liverpool Family Mental Health Support Service (LFMHSS) and/or South West Sydney Primary Health Network’s STAR4Kids (Supporting Them to Achieve Resilience) Program in delivering psychological services to children and families with children aged between zero and 18 years of age.

Your key responsibilities will be to:
Provide a range of therapeutic modalities appropriate to children (aged from 0 to 18 years) including but not limited to delivery of: behavioural interventions, parenting interventions, cognitive-behavioural therapy interventions, attachment interventions, play-based therapy, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, trauma-informed care

Conduct a range of assessments of children (0 to 18 years) (e.g. cognitive-functioning, behavioural, and emotional)

Deliver psycho-social education to parents/carers’ in support of child mental health intervention

Schedule and conduct collaborative and client driven counselling session/s with whole families or individuals at the appointed Liverpool office and/or delivery outlet as required (e.g. schools, home-visits).

New referrals accepted as per FMHSS/South West Sydney Primary Health Network Clinical Governance timeframes to the Program and commencement of support

Develop and update a client service file for each family/child/children in line with MA and FMHSS/South West Sydney Primary Health Network requirements.

Coordinate and support the exit of families/children from the program including preparing a post counseling summary, post counseling questionnaire and support letters.

Create and update individualized case management files for all clients in line with Mission Australia protocols.

Requirements for Success

Skills and competence in a range of therapeutic modalities appropriate to children (aged from zero to 18 years) including but not limited to delivery of: behavioural interventions, parenting interventions, cognitive-behavioural therapy interventions, attachment interventions, play-based therapy, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, trauma-informed care

Ability to administer a range of assessments of children (zero to 18 years) experiencing or at risk of developing a mental health disorder (e.g. cognitive-functioning, behavioural, and emotional)

Experience in working with families within a systemic practice model

Experience in developing effective working relationships with a range of service stakeholders across service sectors (e.g. government, non-government, and private sector)

Demonstrated engagement in structured clinical supervision (ongoing)

High level of computer literacy

Capacity to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Interpersonal skills that possess qualities including empathy, positive regard, warmth and genuineness

A willingness to join a child’s world and not be deterred by matters that are sensitive in nature.

Current valid NSW Driver’s License

Use of private vehicle for business purposes to support outreach work
