Radio CCFM is a registered Non-Profit Organisation operating as a Community Radio Station providing broadcast services to the Christian community of Cape Town.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading our sales team, ensuring that sales objectives and targets meet the creative, commercial and missional aspirations of our 24-hour community radio station. As a member of the Management Team of Radio CCFM, the successful candidate will participate in the ongoing development and implementation of effective sales strategies and delivering on targets and effective outcomes. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all sales campaigns and projects comply with the mission of the station and also with the conditions as outlined in our policies and procedures.

Radio CCFM is searching for a dynamic and experienced leader for the role of Sales Manager. This candidate will ensure increase in revenue opportunities and increase in advertising sales income in compliance with license and statutory conditions. This candidate will ensure that every contract, external and internal to Radio CCFM, is delivered as per sales brief, timeously and correctly.

Key Accountabilities Inter Alia:

  • Achieve revenue goals through the development and supervision of a sales team
  • Adherence to sales targets as set by Management
  • Implementation of a sales strategy which targets revenue i.e. maintains and grows revenue
  • Be proactive in spotting opportunities that could result in sales gains for Radio CCFM
  • Contribute positively to monthly advertising sales revenue and targets by acquiring clients
  • To review and evaluate every sales contract prior to sign-off
  • Ensure that every sales contract that is sold is delivered promptly and accurately as per the client’s request
  • To ensure frequent liaison with internal and external stakeholders for the successful implementation of sales proposals. Essential to this role is ensuring that constant lines of communication are maintained by weekly meetings with internal departments such as the programming and marketing departments
  • Provide progress reports and continuously know the status of all contracts between Media Agencies, clients and Radio CCFM. This must be accurately represented on weekly and monthly reports.
  • Work closely with the Content Programme Manager and Marketing team to ensure sales concepts created are accurately and effectively executed
  • Ensure proper workflow of sales information is maintained
  • Ensure briefing takes place with the programming department so that sales items go on air as per schedule
  • Ensure briefing and detailing of post campaign analysis take place
  • Ensure that proper liaison take place and effective sound of the station solutions are implemented with the on-air broadcasters
  • Utilise all Radio CCFM available platforms to achieve optimal sales
  • Develop Sales and Promotion (S&P) and NTR (Non-Traditional Radio) sales strategy for Radio CCFM
  • To be involved in outside broadcasts regularly and to support outside events when necessary to enhance the visibility of the radio station in the community

Minimum Qualifications and Competencies

  • Essential Matric or equivalent
  • 3 Year completed qualification
  • Experience within the media environment at decision-making level for minimum of 3 years
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Experience in client relationship management
  • Excellent writing and communication ability
  • Good communication skills – interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to manage different projects at the same time
  • Attentive to detail – accuracy, follow-through and problem solving a necessity
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Highly driven, assertive and organized
  • Able to make decisions
  • Ability to close a deal within a fast-paced-quick turn-around-time environment
  • Ability to work both independently and be a team player
