The Toronto Zoo is currently recruiting seasonal staff for the 2023 Peak Season to work in our Health & Safety Branch. This uniformed position will assist with the daily operations of the Health& Safety Services Branch. This position will assist and provide support in implementing the approved Strategic Plan.

HOURS OF WORK: Up to 40 hours per week
PAY RATE: $17.41
SCHEDULE/DURATION: Must be able to work a variety of shifts including weekdays, afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays, up to and including Labour Day.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Providing excellent guest service to our guests.

Providing crowd control.

Directing traffic in the parking lots

Checking visitor admissions tickets for validity.

Communicating general information and assisting visitors as required.

Keeping the Supervisor informed of all activities.

Documenting shift activities in assigned memo book/notebook.

Responding to emergencies as directed.

Assisting full-time/permanent staff as directed.

Preparing written reports on any incidents directly involved in.

Perform mobile and foot patrol.

Performing other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be willing and able to work weekends, shifts and holidays up to and including Labour Day weekend. (Availability in the fall is an asset)

Must possess a valid Ontario Security Guard licence issued under (PSISA).

Must possess a valid Standard (or Emergency) First Aid and Basic Rescuer CPR (level “C”) Certification.

Must possess a Full G Driver’s licence in the Province of Ontario, with a good driving record.

Must have a good working knowledge of safety related legislation (OHSA).

Must possess excellent oral/written communication skills.

Must possess excellent customer service/interpersonal skills.

Previous experience in the public attraction industry would be an asset.

AED training would be an asset.

Currently enrolled in or a graduate of a recognized law enforcement program at a post-secondary institute
